But what does this all mean
Simplified teams makes creating teams a 'simple' process!The major difference is that in normal Teams, each participant can register and manage their own record within the team, whereas, simplified teams ONLY deals with the team captain.
The team captain is 100% responsible for adding each team member, however the amount of info collected is restricted.
In addition, simplified teams follows a similar registration flow to individuals wherein the team members are added in the registration flow before payment, meaning there are no incomplete teams with simple teams.
The team options tab is surprise, surprise, where you set the team composition and pricing options.
The configuration options include:
- Minimum and maximum quantity of team members
- Minimum and maximum age
- Male / Female / Mixed gender
- Open from and to
You can also set how team memebrs join, the options to join are:
- Team Captain Choose ( from the 3 below )
- Private - all teams are private / closed
- Public - anyone can join
- Password - the captain sets a password for others to join
Edit Team Options
Enter text that describes this type of team. This description will be visible to the end user when they are selecting a team type.
Number of Participants
Fixed - Enter the number of participants for this Team Option. The system will then ensure that this many participants are entered when the user selects this registrations type.
Please note: An incomplete team is a team where the minimum number of participants has not been reached. Allowing incomplete teams will allow the team captain to pay for the team prior to the positions in the team being filled.
At a later date, participants can then be added or invited to the team by the team captain, or participants may join the team depending on the team settings.
Eg - A triathlon team with a fixed size of 3 people. With ‘allow incomplete teams’ checked, the team captain may register and pay for the team without adding any participants, then closer to the event he could add in the participants to the team.
Variable - Minimum Participants is an optional field. If this field does not apply you do not need to enter anything.
You can specify a minimum number of participants for this Team Option. The system will then ensure that at least this many participants are entered when the user selects this registrations type.
Maximum Participants is also an optional field. If this field does not apply you do not need to enter anything.
You can specify a maximum number of participants for this Team Option. The system will then ensure that a maximum of this many participants are entered when the user selects this registrations type.
Team roles are usually used in sports event to define the participant role within a team.
e.g. - A Triathlon has 3 roles, Swim / Ride / Run and 2 or 3 people compete in those roles for the triathlon.
Select Yes for this option to setup the roles information for your teams.
